Father Roman Rytsar

Father Roman Rytsar is a Ukrainian Catholic priest originally from L'viv, Ukraine. He studied at the Catholic University of Lublin, Poland from 1996-2003, where he achieved his MA and Licentiate in Theology at the Lublin High Seminary. He and his wife, Liliya, were married in 2002 in L'viv and are now parents to four children. 

Fr. Roman was ordained as a Deacon on March 21, 2004 and as a Priest on March 27, 2005, both celebrated by the current Metropolitan-Archbishop of L'viv, Ihor Vozniak. From 2003-2005 he taught at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L'viv. In 2005, Fr. Roman came to Canada to pursue his PhD in Theology through the Sheptytsky Institute at Saint Paul University, in Ottawa. 

Since 2011, the Father has been working at The Ottawa Hospital as a Chaplain and Catholic priest. Additionally, Fr. Roman Registered as a Psychotherapist in 2015 and began working at The Whitestone Clinic in Ottawa, providing therapy for people struggling with addictions and for survivors of complex trauma. Between 2011-2014 Fr. Roman served as the Associate Administrator of our Parish, and since 2014 has been the Administrator.

Father Roman is an accomplished and respected lecturer and has held numerous workshops and retreats across Canada. He and his family continue to live in Ottawa, while commuting weekly to Kingston to serve as our Priest.
